ver had trouble getting your dog or cat to stay in one place? ( this is really hard to do though), or your cat/dog always has the knack for getting into trouble? Regardless of any situation that might happen to get quality indoor pet gate is ideal for you as it gives you a sense of control over your pet’s movement keeping them out of less trouble.
What exactly is a pet gate and what does it do?
A pet gate is a very useful piece of equipment that builds a barrier keeping your cat/dog either inside the house, outside the house or in a restricted area of the house.
What to look out for when buying a pet gate
Now pet gates are available in different sizes and configurations however they are not of equal proportion or measurement. They vary in size, durability and the materials used however when you want to purchase a pet gate it’s good to check
- Just how big is your dog?
- Does your dog love to chew things?
- Is the gate easy to open?
- Do you have pets that can open doors even if they are close?
- The strength and stamina of the gate,
- The quality of materials used to construct
- How easy it is to install(fix) and uninstall(remove).
On the assumption that you want to protect your new pup/kitten from getting injured or popping where he/she shouldn’t then a standard pet gate is a considerable idea as you necessarily don’t have to spend a lot purchasing or making one. You can have something simple yet sturdy, made from wood with a very simple design that would serve your purpose. But if you have smart pets that chew your door or likes to chew then installing a wooden or plastic gate is not the best idea as it would be ideal to stick with a metal gate.
Have any product/make in mind?
There are a couple of good products out there and they vary from price to size (from the simple one to the less expensive and small ones(kittens and puppies) to the expensive yet suitable for big dogs and cats.) Regardless we won’t mention or list a particular brand (for copyright reasons) as we advise you search your local pet shop brochure or visit pet shops around you for product names or brands.
Types/styles of pet gates
There are two main styles of pet gates and they are
- Freestanding gates
Pressure mounted gates are ideal for keeping your pet in a place however they can’t be used at the top of the stairs as they become loose when pulled or pushed.
Hardware mounted gates, on the other hand, are installed into the wall or fence so as to avoid falling from the stairs.
Freestanding games are ideal for training pets as this type of gate doesn’t require mounting of any kind.
If you intend to install the gates yourself don’t forget to follow the manufacturer’s instruction and contact them if you have any questions or immediate concerns.
